What this ranking does and does not measure

The AUM figure here is the total value of the positions a manager reported on its most recent Form 13F-HR. That is a narrower number than the one most firms quote publicly, and the difference matters. A 13F covers US-listed equities, ADRs, and certain options and convertibles — it does not include bonds, cash, foreign-listed shares, real assets, or short positions. A manager running large fixed-income or international books will therefore appear far smaller here than its own marketing figure.

The reporting lag is the second thing to keep in mind. A 13F is due 45 days after the quarter ends, so every row is a snapshot of what a manager held on the quarter-end date, published up to six weeks later and describing a portfolio that may already have changed. The quarter each figure comes from is shown on every row for that reason.

The same data is available over the API. /v1/managers returns this ranking with name, CIK, AUM, position count and filing metadata; /v1/holdings returns the individual positions behind any one of them. Both require the Business plan — see the API reference.
